After deciding to take a gap-year before pursing my PhD in Music Theory, I contacted local music professionals and searched online for jobs relevant to my field. Having taught private voice and piano lessons throughout my undergraduate career and serving as an Instructor of Record during my Masters gave me experience teaching voice and other musical skills to students of diverse backgrounds, ages, and ability levels. I believe my training in Classical, Broadway, and Pop vocal styles, ability to use piano in both a classroom and performance setting, and past experience teaching private vocal and piano lessons would help me to succeed at Taylor Robinson Music Lessons. I began teaching private vocal and piano lessons in 2013 at small, newer music school and was responsible for 10-15 students ranging from ages 5-15. In 2014 I moved to a larger music school where I served as lead vocal instructor and prepared students for recitals, auditions, and singing competitions and organized music day camps for groups of 20 students. During the summers I work as Music Director at Camp Ton-A-Wandah where I apply the skills I learned teaching voice privately to a small group setting. During my Masters Degree I served as an Instructor for Aural Skills II, III and IV, and as a teaching assistant for Music Theory II, III and IV. In Aural Skills, I prepared lessons about sight-reading, harmonic and melodic dictation exercises, and held weekly office hours. I also served as a tutor for the remedial graduate theory course during my Masters and for all undergraduate theory courses during my final year of undergrad.
