What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Curriculum and student expectation varies with the ability of each student. Likewise, the amount of time you have to dedicate to practicing will allow for a broader, more encompassing skill set to be taught. Beginning students would focus more on sight-reading, learning digital coordination, proper arm and finger technique and basic ear-training. More advanced students will work on a handful of ability-appropriate pieces from the standard repertoire. Likewise, if the student desires, more time can be spent analyzing the music theory behind works. Students who wish to study jazz piano will spend more time learning improvisation, stylistic performance, and how to read jazz charts. ALL students benefit from ear training and basic musical theory.
