When starting off my lessons, students should expect to learn the notes on the staff, as well as warm-ups. I will show the books that I work out of and explain where they can be found. My goal is to make learning fun and keep you (the student) engaged in your lesson. While we will be working out of the books in the beginning, it is creating the foundation and teaching you the basics that you need to learn when beginning to play the piano/keyboard. Once the foundation has been set and the basics have been learned, I am more than happy to work on songs that you are interested in from different genres. We will break the songs down piece by piece and put it together slowly. When learning music whether it is by using the books or selecting a song of your choice, we will learn it by going over the notes, then the rhythm, and then we will work on practicing each hand separately. Once you have gotten each hand separate, we will go through the song with both hands together. It is never a race to get a song done, never feel like you have to rush! Take your time, learn and understand the material. If you don't, do NOT be afraid to ask questions. I'm here to work with you and be right by your side every step of the way :D
