Hello, my name is Derique! I am a percussion performer, and up-and-coming composer and arranger. I studied Music Education at Prairie View A&M University with a Minor in Art. I have taught all ages from K-12 to collegiate levels. I have played in various concerts, performed at many jazz cafes with the jazz ensemble, played in the orchestra, marimba ensemble and performed in Europe with the Blue Devils International Drum Corps in Basil, Switzerland at the Basil Tattoo. I enjoy teaching kids music because it is my passion. For those who want to seek and reach the highest craft in music, I am willing to teach whether they are new at it or want more experience. I have 2 years teaching a high school and middle school.

What to expect in my Drum Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
You will expect the basic rhythmic incantation, note writing and score reading. You will be taught various styles and have fun. If you do not have experience in reading music or do not know any of the instruments do not be alarm I will help you anyway possible to build yourself up to be a great percussionist.
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
You will expect to make various variations of composition to make your work. You will learn your scales various from Major to Jazz. We will also discuss copyright issues and making sure you are expanding your mind when it comes to your music. Do not be nervous or afraid of trying something new to those who have some experience.
