What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Students will learn basic piano concepts at first, such as finger style, posture, and piano anatomy. They will also begin to learn how to read music as well as the notes of the piano. Students will be taught simple tunes or simple adaptations of songs of their choice.
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Students will learn about song structure, song forms, counterpoint, tonal theory, harmony, and phrasing. The goal here is to help the student develop their own unique voice and style.
What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
Students can expect to first learn basics about the guitar. Anatomy, posture, hand position, strings, fretboard, tuning After basic concepts are covered, students will learn simple 1-string tunes, picking patterns, chord forms, scales. While learning all these concepts, students will also be taught the appropriate level of music theory. More advanced students will learn chord progressions, modes, phrasing, improvisational techniques, finger style techniques, and advanced music theory. Throughout all of this the goal of the lesson is to engage the student and to make sure that they are enjoying themselves and the practice.
