Hello, my name is Dan and I am pleased that you are considering me as a teacher for your son or daughter. I am 43 years old, married with two children. I started playing drums quite young. 2 years old to be exact. My parents saw that maybe their son had some talent for the instrument and put me in drum lessons at age 4. By the time I turned eight I was able to perform with my brother in laws dixie land band. From the time I turned 9 all the way through early college I continued to take private lessons. During this period I perfomed with my high schools Jazz band, Jazz choir and I was the main drummer for all the musicals in my town as well as my high school. (I am from Davis Ca. 11 mi. outside Sacramento,ca.) These experiences help me get into a Jazz combo during my first year of college. It was here that I got to perfom in a real recording studio and play on my first album. In my twentys I began to gig in the clubs and began playing in various churches. Musically and professionally this was a very good time in my life. One of the bands I played with opened up for R and B greats, the dramatics, Howard Huitt from Shalamar, Blue magic and Confunction. I also performed on a number of other CDs from both my church and other bands. Furthermore, I was in school majoring in music at Sacramento State University. I graduated with my B.A in percussion performance. In 1993 I recieved my calfornia teaching credential and began teaching elementary school band, general music and choir. In the year 2000 I moved to Carson City and taught elementary school music for two years and performed with various bands and churches. In 2003. I moved to Arizona due to the california budget and I got hired to teach junior high school band and elementary school band. Since I moved to Arizona I have cointinued to perform with a number of country bands, Jazz bands, Christian bands as well as rock and Americana groups. In 2010 I finished my Masters of music degree from Northern Arizona University and have had the privelege of playing with the president of the steel guitar societies of both Texas and Arizona, the guitar great Nokie Edwards from the Ventures, Jack Jackson from Alberta Canada, and opened up for Micheal Martin Murphy with my band Playin country. Currently I am still perfoming and teaching around the Yuma, Phoenix area.
