Hi, my name is Samuel and I am a Percussionist and studio manager from Florissant, CO. I have been a student of music for over 11 years. My musical influences include Latin percussion, Celtic, classical rock, blues, hip hop, world music, jazz, orchestra, and new age electronic. I also enjoy diversified mixes of styles that combine heavy rhythms and complex melodies. My teaching style can best be described as kinesthetic; my students get hands on experience from the start and begin to play music throughout the entire lesson. As a style is developed, more emphasis is focused on repetition and applying techniques. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I provide direct attention to developing skills and challenging new ideas that appeal to the students tastes in music while encouraging them to explore new genres as well. In my lessons, you can expect to learn to recognize rhythmic patterns, learn music terminology, apply rudimentary skills and develop the ability to perform a musical composition from start to finish. Everything you need to know to start drumming as a soloist, or how to be the supporting role in a band. I like to tell my students that raw talent isnt enough, practice and dedication is needed to be successful. My favorite thing about teaching is watching people find the joy in musical performance and seeing their lives change through the arts. My favorite performance was with my class years ago when i did the national anthem at the Denver stadium with the drumlines of 30 different schools. students love that I can answer all their questions and provide information and resources to support their growth. I primarily teach drums/percussion, but I can also teach vocal lessons, and bass guitar. My approach as a teacher is to introduce students to their instruments first and to get them acquainted with detailed knowledge about their use, history, and comparisons to similar instruments. Everyone has a unique sound and timbre that they will look for and its important to learn how to recognize these qualities. Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon!
