Matthew J.

Matthew began playing drums at the age of 12. Over the years, he developed his skills further by getting a $50,000 music scholarship to college where he earned his Bachelors Degree in Music Performance. He gained performance experience in the percussion and drum set area performing all around Asia, Europe, Middle East, Australia, South America, and Canada. As an educator he's taught at high schools throughout southern California, and with The GRAMMY'S for their summer outreach program GRAMMY CAMP. He also currently holds a music faculty position at RMC in Point Loma as Director of Bands and Lead Drum Instructor. Though Matthew can teach many different genres of music, his musical personal favorites are Jazz, Funk, Latin, and Rock which had great influence on his style of playing. Matthew loves music because he believes there's no better artistic medium, and he loves teaching music because he gets to connect with others with the same passion for music.
