Hello, My name is Jessica. I have been a lover of music all of my life. I began singing in my church choir and in small group around the age of 16 and grew to love being able to use the gifts I have to speak to people through song. I began my formal study of music in 2015 under the guidance Dr. Claire Vangelisti from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. I am currently still pursuing this degree at the University of Central Florida where I will be graduating in Spring 2021. My performing experience began with my role as a daughter of the Major General in the Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert & Sullivan. I have also had the pleasure of being a part of the ominous but well-loved show, Sweeney Todd as one of the London chorus people/insane asylum lunatics. My first lead role was as Mrs. Peachum from the Beggar's Opera in 2017. I was also double casted as the Bar Wench on the nights I was not Mrs. Peachum. It continued on with bit roles in several scene programs such as Mrs. Macaffey from Bye Bye Birdie, Marcellina from Le Nozze di Figaro, and Dragon from Shrek: the Musical. I have also appeared many times as a chorus member with the Louisiana Opera under the direction of Dr. Mark Clark. I have performed in many genres from classical arias to modern Broadway. I have even directed my own scene program that I performed with several of my colleagues. While my teaching experiences have been few and far between due to lack of interest in the area I was previously in, the few students I have had have always said that I made learning music interesting and fun to where a few have gone on to discover other hidden talents they didn't know they possessed. My primary focus is to establish good singing habits early because not only does that help if my student chooses to pursue music as their life goal, but good singing habits teach discipline in other areas, such as public speaking. I am also well versed in basic music theory and ear training. I look forward to teaching someone that is ready to learn and discover what magic music truly holds for us.
