I began my drumming career in rock bands and school bands while attending High School in the Pittsburgh area. In 1975 I took my show on the road, playing in Florida for a couple of years and returning to Pittsburgh before heading to Las Vegas. During my 8 years in Vegas, I played in many local clubs and casino lounges, and subbed in shows that included: Paul Anka at Caesar’s Palace; Connie Stevens at MGM; and Lola Falana at MGM. Following these acts, I played with Champoux, a local and traveling band traveling extensively in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
In 1985 I returned to Pittsburgh to be closer to my family. At that time my former drum instructor, Mars Scarazzo,( owner of Mars Drums, Ambridge, PA.) showed an interest in my returning to PA to assist in opening another one of his local drum stores. During this time I started instructing drum lessons and became the Assistant Band Director at Seneca Valley High School for 6 years.
I continued to play with many Pittsburgh Bands, including: Central Park West who soon became The Rick Parker Band, playing as house band at the Sheraton Hotel; The Violators, playing original rock; BullRoper, playing Country; Skeeter Hill, one of Pittsburgh’s biggest Country Bands at that time; Eugene & The Night Crawlers, playing the Blues; Common Ground, an acoustic-percussive Rock Band I played with for 5 years; The Wranglers, another Country Band who took me on a 3 week tour in Germany; The Dave Iglar Band, a Blues-Rock Band I played with for 7 years, and Dave being named one of the top guitarists in the Pittsburgh area.
I was teaching drum & percussion lessons to an average of 43 students a week for the past 21 years, until about3 years ago, when I moved here to Nixa. I played on the Praise & Worship Band at the Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church for 9 years (1996-2006), as well as doing studio recordings.
