Kyla began playing violin and piano at the age of 4, and she has also been singing since the age of 10. Over the years, she developed her skills further by performing, recording, and studying music and musical theatre at Columbia College Chicago. She gained performance experience by performing with groups such as SYSO, CYSO, the Protege Philharmonic Orchestra, XCEND Show Choir, and Musicality AGT Season 11 semi-finalists. She is an active performer who has performed with Ari Afsar and Miguel Cervantes who were Alexander Hamilton & Eliza Hamilton in Chicago's production of Hamilton, she has performed with Bishop Briggs at Lollapalooza, & she has performed with Jordin Sparks for the event UNICEF Won't Stop. Kyla is trained classically in all areas of her studies, but she is also trained in musical theatre, country, & popular styles of music. Kyla loves teaching music because she has so much knowledge that she wants to share with others. She wants to help other aspiring musicians learn how to express themselves through music. What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
I teach classical violin, and students can expect to learn scales, exercises, warm-ups, and repertoire.
What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
Students can expect to learn vocal warm-ups, exercises, vocal health, breathing techniques, singing techniques, and repertoire. I can teach classical, country, pop, and musical theatre styles of singing.
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
Students can expect to learn scales, finger exercises, proper technique, and repertoire. I can teach classical and popular music, but classical is the foundation for all music. No matter what style of music you want to learn, you will always learn the basics with classical music.

As I have been interested already for a very long time into being able to play piano myself, but never found the motivation to learn it on my own. I found Kyla, she was an incredibly patient teacher. She gave me very good instructions on how to proceed without note reading skills and exercises that kept me motivated to prepare myself for the next session. Over and over. If I could give one point of critic, it is a shame I had all these lessons over the internet as I am not from her neighborhood. Even then she gave the lessons very well! Kyla is an absolutely delightful teacher. I've been studying singing, music theory, and composition with her now for nearly 3 years and I couldn't have asked for a better teacher. Just in general, she's endlessly kind and patient in her lessons and it's a privilege to be able to learn from her. I'm autistic and at first I was very nervous about doing singing lessons but Kyla always was able to put me at ease and has always been accommodating to my support needs. As a teacher she always pushes you to do better but never too hard that you get overwhelmed, and whenever I've been lost or confused she's always able to explain things clearly and help me understand. Composition is something I've always wanted to do, ever since I can remember, but I was very discouraged after high school. Thanks to Kyla I've not only rediscovered my love for composition but gotten so much better than I ever was. I'm now able to write pieces I actually like. I never thought I'd ever get to this point.
