I had always longed to teach vocals during my 20+ years of performing and in 2010 I DID begin my own work as an instructor, and it's been AMAZINGLY rewarding, effective and FUN!! I was taught the PHYSICALITY of singing by opera great Frank Cappelli and developed it further over the next couple of decades through live singing and recording albums and singles. Since I began teaching 14 years ago, I've discovered that my methods are effective and the process in general has been a BLAST! *
James W. St.- has over 14 years teaching, whole years of music experience in the Berwyn area.
James W. St.- is proficient in and teaches Vocal Lessons .Formal Education:
University of Texas at Austin, BS, Radio-Television-Film 3 semesters of basic music theory, graduated
Private Education:
Worked with 4 vocal instructors before beginning work with Opera Great Frank Cappelli in Philadelphia, who taught me the full PHYSICALITY involved with singing. I worked with Frank for 2 years, then honed his teachings and my individual style together over the next 15+ years before I finally began teaching voice on my own, building a few students at first through word of mouth
Performing Experience:
Have performed for as little as zero folks to as many as thousands, all over the country, in as many different types of venues that exist -- in my own bands, as a solo artist, in radio commercials, and in musicals developed out of NYC by Hallmark Entertainment,
Experience Teaching:
I incorporated the essence of the teachings by Frank Cappelli with my own experiences and "resume", and finally began something I had always thought about doing but hadn't gotten around to yet for one reason or another: VOCAL/SINGING TEACHING. I began by getting a few requests at around the same time period from folks who saw me perform as well as friends, so I thought, "Go for it!" Since then I've had countless numbers of students, and currently continually have between 2 and 10 at time (more than that tends to take FULL quality away from each student, I've found), most acquired by word of mouth, with the rest connected with me by Taylor Robinson. Fortunately I have seen, based on my own feelings and feedback, that my methods are effective and FUN! :)
