Marcus H.-

Marcus has been involved in music for the vast majority of his life. Coming from a family of musicians and teachers, he was taught lessons like basic music theory and harmonization at a young age. As he grew up, he started to invest more time and energy into music until it was a full on passion. All throughout middle school and high school, he was a leader to other students, often taking on challenging and intimidation roles in the music community. By 16, he had performed for hundreds of people around the Colorado Springs area and even some from all over the state. All this while being at school for an average 12 hours a day to accommodate for rigorous rehearsal schedules for choir, band, and theatre. After high school, Marcus has spent the past year studying Music Business and Vocal Performance in Denver, learning from people such as AndyRok (from the Flobots) and a guest lecture from Isaac Slade (lead singer of the Fray). Currently, Marcus spends a majority of his time working with his a cappella group, Ninth Street Singer, as well as working with other groups around the Denver/Boulder area. Marcus has spent the past 5 years tutoring and mentoring young musicians, majority being singers and percussionists, to reach their full potential by providing not only a wide scope of music knowledge in many different styles/genres/contexts, but also a nurturing attitude for his students. *youtube video attached is a performance of “Impossible Year” by P!ATD, arranges for jazz combo by Marcus and featuring Marcuson vocals and piano.
