Kaye began taking piano lessons at the age of five. Over the years, she developed her skills further by learning to play by ear. She gained performance experience by playing at such venues as through National Piano Guild and as pianist for her church. Though Kaye can teach many genres of music, her musical personal favorites are jazz and indie/pop, which had great influence on her style of playing. Kaye loves music because it's another way to express herself and she loves teaching music because everyone has a little music in them! What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
We will go over the basics of song structure for each genre I teach, but please expect to write whatever is on your heart. I am a self-taught songwriter, so I expect my students to tap into their artistic nature when creating a song.
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
Structured lessons in sight reading sheet music and basic music theory. You will also learn performance etiquette and memorization. Ear Training is only offered to advanced students who have mastered sight reading and theory to my satisfaction.
Formal Education:
Kaye has her bachelors in Business Management, and is currently pursuing her MBA.
Private Education:
Kaye experienced multiple piano teaching styles as a privately educated student, and this has informed much of her teaching methods using a combination of the best practices from her different teachers.
Performing Experience:
Kaye performed under the National Piano Guild ages 12-14, and performed for her church ages 13-17.
Experience Teaching:
Kaye has taught piano for around 5 years; previously she taught beginner and intermediate students at the Hayiya Dance Theatre in Macon, GA. Currently accepting students in the DMV area.
