I grew up with a mother who sang and played the piano every day. I learned how to sing harmony at an early age, and because of the small size of the church I grew up in, I joined the adult choir when I was in elementary school. After 4 years of being in the Maryland All-State Chorus, I decided to dedicate my life to sharing music with anyone who wanted to learn. My high school voice teacher implored me to go study with a friend of his who was a voice teacher in Texas. So I applied to Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, and to my parents’ delight, they offered me a wonderful academic scholarship. I got my Bachelor’s in Music Education and my Master’s in Choral Conducting. I began teaching myself using my mother’s old piano instruction books when I was in middle school. I started taking piano and organ lessons in college. Church music ministry has been an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have been pianist, assistant organist, organist, children’s choir director, youth choir director, adult choir director, handbell choir director...you name it. I taught middle and high school choir in Texas for a decade. I taught private voice lessons in various high schools in Texas. I have very eclectic musical tastes, and am perfectly able to teach you how to sing Classical, Broadway, American Idol, church...whatever you need.
