Hi, my name is Jonathan and I am a recent Graduate student from NIU. I have been a student of music for 18 years. I love teaching the fundamentals of percussion and Performing. My teaching style can best be described as easy-going. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I want you to be the best you can be. In my lessons, you can expect to learn the fundamentals of percussion through advance performance. I like to tell my students that each of us has our own path and artistic voice. My favorite thing about teaching is the joy in communicating through music. My favorite performance was touring in Costa Rica. My students love that I like to have fun and give them the freedom to find their own voice. I primarily teach Concert Percussion, but I can also teach drum set. What to expect in my Drum Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
A relaxed, easy-going environment, where students can learn at their own pace, and find their own artistic style. We will learn the fundamentals of drum set, basic practice techniques and study any genre at a beginner to intermediate level the student wishes to learn.
What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
Here we will learn the fundamentals or concert percussion all the way through serious audition preparation. We will learn how to approach each instrument and creating basic sounds all the way up to studying musical scores and preparing students for their next big orchestral audition, whether that be for college, or various local orchestras
