My name is Elise and I'm looking forward to exploring music with you! It is of utmost importance for me to learn what YOU want in your music studies, whether it's learning to play your favorite song, learning to write an original song, or learning to read sheet music. I believe it is my job to encourage you to achieve your personal music goals through structured learning while fostering your love for music. I am a professional songwriter, pianist and arranger. I have degrees in jazz arranging and music therapy and am familiar with not only traditional classical pedagogy, but jazz pop and contemporary music as well.

We will create a strong vocal foundation centered around taking care of YOUR voice and singing in a healthy way. It is important to connect with your creativity as a vocalist because you are responsible for telling stories in your music. My vocal lessons are rigorous and extremely fun at the same time.

Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
What makes my teaching different is that I shape my method around the music you love. Most students will become easily bored simply reading out of method books: I want to figure out WHAT you want to play and take you there. Not only will you learn how to read sheet music, but you will discover how to play by ear so you can hear a song on the radio and teach yourself to play it. We will also study creativity on the piano: improvisation and songwriting are essential skills for a pianist---even if you can't imagine yourself being a songwriter!
