Rashaad has always loved music from an early age. He began playing percussion and drum set at the age of 11 and continued his education through attending the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University. His musical influences include many of the legendary drummers such as Steve Gadd, Jabo and Clyde, David Garibaldi, and Neil Peart, as well as his percussion/drum teachers throughout his education. Rashaad's favorite thing about music is that there is always something new to learn and explore, and his favorite thing about teaching music is passing on my knowledge to the next generation, watching their creativity grow, and learning more about myself as a musician and a person. One of his favorite teaching experiences was providing percussion workshops in Colombia and having to teach "American techniques" despite the existing language barrier.
