Hi, my name is Kara and I am a vocalist from St. Louis. I have been a student of music for almost 15 years. My musical influences include jazz and classical and I also enjoy folk and singer-songwriter genres. My teaching style can best be described as goal centered, fun, and engaging. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I want to develop the whole musician. As vocalists, we are inherently story tellers. In addition to technique we will be exploring what it means to embody those stories. In my lessons, you can expect to learn how to find your own voice. I like to tell my students that there are many songs and voices out there, but you are the only one carrying and using your own. My favorite thing about teaching is how much I learn from my students. My favorite performances have been at venues around St. Louis where I've gotten to share my original songs. My students love that I have the capacity to help them work on what they need specifically.
