About Me

Hi, my name is Tara and I am a saxophone player! I have been a student of music ever since my mother let me sit down at her piano as a small child and make up my own songs. My musical influences vary widely from classical to jazz, classic rock to reggae, and so much in between! My teaching philosophy centers around understanding what each students wants out of their lessons and meeting the individual student where they are in their musical journey. Each lesson plan will be tailored to them and no two students will follow the same exact path! In my lessons, you can expect to learn about the different genres in which a saxophone can be played, basic music theory, instrument care, helpful practice techniques, proper playing techniques, and more! My favorite thing about teaching is witnessing that "Ah-ha!" moment when a student finally figures something out or that look of satisfaction when they play through a piece really well. I love teaching music and helping students discover the ways music can positively impact their lives. I primarily teach saxophone all varieties but I can also teach flute a common double if you want to play jazz!. I have knowledge about audio engineering, song writing, performing, and what it's like to play in a band symphonic band, marching band, jazz, rock, original music and cover music. If your student studies with me, they will have the opportunity to become a very well rounded saxophonist! Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon!
