Kathryn has always loved music from an early age. She began singing at the age of 6 and playing guitar in high school. She continued her education at Florida Southern College and graduated with a Music degree in voice performance. She got her Master's Degree from Florida State University in the area of Music Therapy. Kathryn's favorite thing about music is the power that it has to heal and inspire and her favorite thing about teaching music is instilling a passion for music in my students. One of her favorite teaching experiences was teaching my own three daughters. They began lessons at age 5 and created a band called, The Grumpy Ole Trolls when they were very young. They have been playing as a band for 5 years and my oldest daughter is now only 16. They play at music festivals and events all over Florida. They will be able to learn to tune their guitars by ear and with a tuner. They will hold the guitar correctly and place their fingers on the strings correctly. They will be able to learn various chords and scales. They will learn songs that they want to learn as well as songs that will help them improve the skill being taught. They will learn various guitar strums.
What to expect in my Bass Guitar Lessons
Beginner
They will be able to learn to tune their bass by ear and with a tuner. They will hold the bass correctly and place their fingers on the strings correctly. They will be able to learn various scales. They will learn songs that they want to learn as well as songs that will help them improve the skill being taught. They will learn various bass rhythms.
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Beginner
They will learn how to read sheet music and learn the notes on the piano and in the sheet music. They will be able to play smoothly to a specific tempo. They will learn chords and will be able to switch from one chord to another smoothly.
What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
They will learn how to stand correctly when singing. They will learn correct breathing techniques and correct pronunciation. They will learn how to project their voice and hear when they make mistakes. For more advanced students, they will learn if they are interested how to sing opera in Italian and various other languages.
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons

They will learn various song structures, rhyming techniques, rhythmic variations and word play.
