Hi, my name is Xiaoxiao, I go by JoJo. I am a Music Education student at UNT. I have been a student of music for over 18 years. My musical influences include Debussy and I also enjoy classic pieces from other musicians such as Beethoven. My teaching style can best be described as inspiring and directive. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I try to be a friend before being a teacher. In my lessons, you can expect to learn to play piano with the way you have been looking forward to and dreamed about. I like to tell my students that practice can be fun if you find the interesting and efficient way that fits you the most. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing my students developing in their piano studying one step at a time and get to somewhere that they can be confident to play the music they absolutely enjoy. My favorite performance was the 2016 New Year concert at Vernon College that my students, other professors and I organized and performed together. My students love that they can be open to share about the problems that they meet in studying with me because I will always demonstrate with patience and the proper attitude. I primarily teach classic music, but I can also teach pop music. My approach as a teacher is to inspire and direct my students to where they want to be and to put their expectations as the priority.
