My name is Adam and I have been playing the drums for about 17 years. I have been teaching for 3 years. Currently I have 2 students and my favorite genre of music to play is rock. My Music Education: I began playing music when I was 6. I took 3 years of lessons on the piano and decided it wasn’t for me. The following year I found the drums, and I spent 8 years taking private lessons. My instructor was always very adamant about learning to read and understand music theory, for “if you can read music, you can teach yourself and others” (and you’re better versed to convey what “you mean” to other musicians). Which has been something that stuck with me and I continue to pass along. Then I attended Drexel University for my Bachelors degree in Music Industry. I continued to take private lessons every semester while I was there, either on drums, piano, guitar, or bass. I took many classes on subjects like, Music Theory, Ear Training, and Music History. I graduated with a concentration in Audio Technology – recording and live sound. Performance: I currently play in an original rock band and we’re excited to be releasing our second album in the spring. I’ve played in punk, metal, jam, jazz, and cabaret bands. I’ve played in music venues from Georgia to NYC. My favorite Philly venue to play is (sad to say, for it is no longer since the fall in 2010) The Khyber. I teach: Rock and Jazz styles. Double bass, and rudiments. How to read and write drum notation, and music theory. Drum maintenance and preparing your drums for recording. Rock! *
