Rock…Metal...Blues… Country…Punk…? NO PROBLEM!
I have played both drums and bass for over 25 years. I started playing drums at the age of 9 and Bass at the age of 11. I took lessons until I "outgrew" the school curriculum. I was playing drums at a high school level at the age of 12 when my former teacher, Richard Ianni, placed me in the Burlington High School band. During high school I started playing in New England-based rock bands. It became clear to me that my strength and passion was in playing music, so I studied Musical Applications at Burlington College. For 18 years since, I have pursued my interest in the music scenes of Los Angeles, NYC, Boston, Louisville and presently Music City, USA. I have played with, written with and performed with many great artists. No matter what market I was in I quickly became a "go to" guy when a live fill-in player or studio musician was needed. Some of the well-known artists I have either opened for or otherwise shared the stage with are Fugazi, ProPain, Godsmack, Orgy, Denitia Odigie, Gabe Zander, Second Skin and Jeff Dahl (formerly of the Angry Samoans).
I started teaching privately in 1994 and have continued to do so off and on. I am currently seeking new students for drums and/or bass. I teach all forms of popular music and if the student commits to his/her prescribed practice routine, I guarantee results! I will often play other instruments along with my students so they are able to get the feel for live playing right from the onset of their learning. Parents are always welcome to stay and watch their child's lessons and are also encouraged to inquire regularly about their progress.
Whether you just bought your first instrument last night and need to learn how tune it, or if you are struggling to figure out the tablature to your favorite song, I can help get you where you want to be. Once you learn how to play your favorite music, I’ll help you to write your own! I can be as formal or relaxed as your needs require.

Mike studied Musical Applications at Burlington College in Burlington, VT. Burlington College is an alternative education institution which utilizes personalized input reports over the standard grading system. Mike performed at several recitals and produced his own music during his tenure. Bachelors degree equivalent; mastery level in Bass and Percussion.
Private Education:
Mike started taking lessons at Lawrence Barnes Elementary school in Burlington, VT in 1982 with Richard Ianni.

I have 25 years of experience playing with various rock, punk, hardcore, goth/industrial, metal and country bands.
