I've always been intrigued by how people interact and learn from each other. Over the years I have been lucky enough to travel around the world practicing my art and learning from some of the most amazing players/studio musicians on the planet. If you had asked 12-year-old me whether I'd be doing what I'm doing now as a living, he probably would have laughed and said he was going to be in a rock band, not recording them. But life takes us where we need to go sometimes and that is quite often not where we think. I'm settling down and starting my own business so I can focus on my own music again, but the journey to get here has been one crazy ride. All that said, I get so much from watching people take control of their art form and become who they want to become as artists. I'll learn just as much from each of you as you will from me, and hopefully we will come to be friends as well as fellow students in the creation and appreciation of music.

What to expect in my Record Engineer Produce
How you approach a mix from the moment you import the tracks into your DAW/line check at a venue, to the polishing touches on your Master Buss is integral to your success as an engineer. Whether you want to be working for major label artists in studio and on tour, work at a local club mixing live bands for a modest living/cash on the side, or get the fundamentals right in order to record your own songs, I can help you along your signal path to success. We will start by identifying your direction and level of understanding, revisit a few of the basics since I may have a different approach to them than you are used to, streamline how you think about a mix so you are making the most important decisions first/fast, and challenge you with real multitrack files from projects I have previously mixed or are currently mixing. You will develop a portfolio of mixes you can use to get real work and we can work together with my songwriting and performing students to mix some of their songs as practice. I will start you off the right way if you have never played an instrument or written/recorded a song before, and I’ll keep you going in the right direction if you have been playing for several years. I don't want to take advanced engineers at the moment because I need to create a more in depth curriculum tailored to that level of engineering before I tackle a student base like that. I will hopefully be able to take advanced students in the near future.
What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
I will not just teach you songs. I will not just give you licks. I will teach you how to learn songs on your own. I will teach you how to create something unique with the songs you learn. We will also focus on tone sculpting and how to get the best sound from any amp or pedal, how to approach a new setting as a supporting player or band leader, and teach you how to establish tangible goals so your success keeps you inspired to work harder. We can also work with my songwriting and engineering students to record guitar parts for their songs, create a channel to build musical relationships, and give you real word experience you can use to build a portfolio. I will start you off the right way if you have never played an instrument or written/recorded a song before, and I’ll keep you going in the right direction if you have been playing for several years. I don't want to take advanced players at the moment because I need to create a more in depth curriculum tailored to that level of playing before I tackle a student base like that. I will hopefully be able to take advanced students in the near future.
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
As a songwriter, I'll help you along your way by teaching you how to record/mix your own demos, how to properly negotiate contracts for gigs and make sure you are paid, and/or hone your craft on every level, so you sound like yourself and not just another voice in an endless crowd of copies. We can co-write material if you want, or I can just give you the tools and tricks I've learned and watch you thrive on your own. Then, we can work with my recording engineer and performing students to record your songs and get your demos out in the world sounding the way they deserve to sound. I will start you off the right way if you have never played an instrument or written/recorded a song before, and I’ll keep you going in the right direction if you have been playing for several years. I don't want to take advanced songwriters at the moment because I need to create a more in depth curriculum tailored to that level of writing before I tackle a student base like that. I will hopefully be able to take advanced students in the near future.
Formal Education:
Associates Degree LA Music Academy Berklee College of Music
Private Education:
Studies under a wide variety of names including; Shane Theriot, John Scofield, and Oz Noy to name a few.
Performing Experience:
While I have only taught sporadically throughout my life, I have experience and contacts that would prove invaluable to the budding player or songwriter. I’ve been blessed with the experience and opportunity to write or co-write dozens of songs for professional release; record and/or mix over 60 professional and independent projects; and transcribe charts for many major label artists, including Daryl Hall and John Oates, Train, Cheap Trick, Wyclef Jean, Elle King and more. I also arranged or co-arranged songs for Pat Monahan, Todd Rundgren, and Daryl Hall among others for major release singles and albums. In fact, I accomplished all of this with very little use of social media. Yes, it is possible!
Experience Teaching:
I've given video lessons online or through Skype during my career but never on an extremely consistent basis.
