About Me

Gregory began his musical journey taking piano lessons as a child in California.  After switching to trumpet in the sixth grade his love for music took off.  His move to Savannah, Georgia allowed him to attend the Savannah Arts Academy for trumpet and participate in honor concert bands, jazz ensembles and orchestras such as All-State and Governor’s Honors Program. In 2004 he performed in China with the acclaimed Skyelite Jazz Band and in May 2009 he obtained a bachelors degree in Jazz Studies at Georgia State University, studying under Dr. Gordon Vernick.  He has shared the stage with acclaimed artists such as Curtis Fuller, Odean Pope, Mike Holober, Slide Hampton, Michael Mossman, David Sanchez, Anat Cohen, Jimmy Heath, and Jon Faddis.  He played with a variety of ensembles, including a Brazillian percussion ensemble, a free-jazz trio and everything in between.  He has performed at all the major venues in Atlanta including Churchill Grounds, The Variety Playhouse, The Rialto and The Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

In addition to performing live, he has recorded for Samantha Stephens, Spy for Hire, Mark Phelps, Bratuki, The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players and Mandy Lauderdale, which includes co-arranging credits on the same Lauderdale album, “I Done Done it.”  He began teaching private students in 2003 and has loved it ever since.  He has worked for several teaching companies in Atlanta including The Peggy Still School of Music, Music Matters, and The Music Class.  Currently he is obtaining his Graduate degree in Jazz Performance from The City University of New York, Queens College, under Professor Michael Mossman.  He is known amongst many as a unique, thoughtful and passionate trumpet player/composer/teacher.
