Matt Ho

Matt started playing drums at the age of seven, using a homemade drum kit of cardboard boxes and his mother's pots & pans. After a few months he got his first drum set and began taking private lessons, ending up under the wing of local drum legend Denny Dixon who nurtured his natural ability. Throughout middle & high school Matt continued his musical training, studying music theory, taking lessons and playing in numerous live settings: concert bands, jazz bands, pep bands, orchestras, solo & ensemble competitions, as well as gigging at bars & venues all over town with local bands.

In the ensuing years Matt has made a name for himself as a member of one of the Midwest's hottest rock bands, Stereo Deluxe. The band tours nationally, playing 100+ shows a year all over the country. Their sophomore release, 'When the Party's Over' on Indie500 Records, displays Matt's power, passion & steadfast groove. Stereo Deluxe won Nuvo Newsweekly's Annual “Best of Indy” award in 2009 & 2010. Over the years Matt has shared the stage with many notable acts including Kings of Leon, Candlebox, Fastball, Everclear, Psychedelic Furs, Bret Michaels, Peter Frampton, REO Speedwagon, Days of the New, Saliva, Howie Day, Pat Benatar and Puddle of Mudd.

Matt began teaching in 2005 and quickly developed an enthusiasm for music education. He strives to inspire every student to reach his or her potential. Matt’s teaching method is based on a three-pronged approach: Passion, Technique and Concept. All students will learn to read music and are expected to devote time each week for practice.
Matt currently teaches in Indianapolis at the Village Child Performing Arts Center and from his home. He plays a Tama Starclassic Performer kit, Zildjian cymbals and Vater sticks. His main influences are Elvin Jones, Dave Grohl and Questlove. His goals for the future are to continue developing as a performer and grow as a music educator.
