“As far as I can remember, there was always Janet Jackson!” Damein exclaims as he recalls his start in music and performance. “ Pleasure Principal and Rhythm Nation are my earliest memories of influence, my mother said I was obsessed with Jackson since the age of 2. I was always trying to learn the choreography and sing along while ruining the house furniture in my stunts.” Damein believes it was the love of dance and freedom he felt while performing that stayed in his mind and soul since the early discovery of those music videos. Since the tender age of 4, Damein knew that life for him would involve music. Originally from Los Angeles, CA, Hollywood’s backyard, he was surrounded by inspiration and ambition. Aware of his passion, Damein’s mother enrolled him in whichever music lessons his school would offer, hoping to shape his interests. With lessons in piano and violin, participation in school plays, and parts in both jazz and classical vocal ensembles, Damein eventually felt ready for a life and a career in music and began auditioning for major productions. Damein has appeared on Fox Network’s Big Bad BeetleBorgs and MTV’s Becoming Usher and P. Diddy I Need a Girl, along with singing in stage and various independent productions. Since, Damein has studied music, vocal performance and media arts at Long Island University’s Brooklyn campus in New York. Damein's teaching style features weekly lessons in musical theory, helping new comers learn how to read and understand sheet music, identify various rhythms & notation, and track musical timing; which allows the student the freedom to take charge of his or her performance.
