4 Years
Rodrick has always loved music from the age of six. He grew up singing and listening to his father playing old blues and soul music and aunts playing RNB. His music influences came from the Jackson 5, the Temptations, Otis Redding, BB King, or artist such as the group New Edition, BeBe and CeCe Winans, Janet Jackson, Music Soul Child, Teddy Riley, Keith Sweat and more. Rodrick grew up learning to play the keyboard, percussion instruments, and the trombone while in middle and high school. Rodrick has a Southern Soul/Zydeco album out. He has performed on stage with various Southern Soul artists that paved the way for today's generation in that genre. Students can expect a hands on approach by understanding where our strength in vocals come from. Student swill start each class with vocal warm-ups as well as singing scales. Students will find their vocal strengths and weaknesses during each class.
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Students will begin each class with a concept. Once that concept is reached, we will begin to form writing structures. There are different ways to write a song, where students will learn how to arrange their lyrics so that it fits with recording.
