At 9 years old, after reluctantly playing piano for two years, Garrett began playing the xylophone and quickly switched to drums. Fascinated by rhythmic theory, he dove headfirst into the world of progressive rock. He began studying with Chris Hollar, an accomplished jazz drummer and instructor, and it was the beginning of Garrett's draw of influences from a wide variety of musical genres. After continuing to explore the possibilities and freedom in prog and study under some of the most renowned jazz instructors in the country, Garrett arrived in Nashville and jumped into indie rock and pop country drumming. Today he is influenced by many artists and drummers, ranging from Meshuggah to John Butler Trio to Keith Urban, with over 12 years of experience on stage, on tour, in the studio and teaching his own students.

Garrett Me has over 12 years of music experience in the Nashville area.
Garrett Me is proficient in and teaches Drum Lessons .Formal Education:
I was taught Theory and Theory AP in high school classes, and participated in high school orchestral band.
Private Education:
I studied with:
Chris Hollar, Texas A&M professor
Gary Chaffee, former Berklee professor, teacher to the legends
Steve Houghton
Ed Soph, Univ. North Texas jazz professor
Keith Brown, Univ. Tennessee jazz professor
Zoro, Belmont professor, studio legend, Modern Drummer award winner
Performing Experience:
I have been performing locally in Knoxville and Nashville, with rock, metal, fusion, and country acts as a band member and a hired gun for 8 years. I have also toured with a rock band as a member - 45 dates over the course of 3 months.
Experience Teaching:
I have had several students, ranging from 11 years to 19 years of age, from total beginner to advanced. Having learned from the best, I am able to identify individual students' learning styles to approach new material from the most effective angle. My students have always learned quickly because of this, and as a result of seeing their own progress, grow even more excited about learning to play drums.
