Corey T. is proficient in and teaches Guitar Lessons, Song Writing Lessons .Degree and Field of Study:
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
For nearly a decade I was a professional touring vocalist and of course I still love to sing. Singing is a special form of music making they all are of course because the instrument is entirely the human body and its interaction with the surrounding air. We will work on posture and breathing, intonation, pitch and tuning, scales and melodic exercises and getting through the various fears and anxieties associated with singing.
What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
In my lessons I typically ask my students what it is they want to get into and where they're at. I might have them show me what they've been practicing lately. In my guitar lessons we get into left and right hand technique, scales and chords, improvisation, finger picking, standard and alternate tuning all relating to whatever it is the student is interested in. We will also work on getting through anxieties and fears associated with playing music.
Formal Education:
Bachelor's of Arts-English-Honors University of Maryland.
Private Education:
I have taken music lessons from mandolin master Carlo Aonzo and Joel Michael Schwartz. However, I am a largely self-taught/community taught musician.
Performing Experience:
I have performed hundreds of shows touring around the US in many bands and one off projects. Anything from folk to indie rock to free improvisation.
Experience Teaching:
I've taught music as well as English and environmental studies for the past decade in a variety of settings and contexts. Most recently and notably, I have given presentations at the Kennedy Center on sound and movement.
