Hi! My name is Steven and I just wanted to introduce myself to you and let you know a little about me. I’ve been teaching private music lessons for more than ten years. I play and teach piano, guitar, bass, ukulele, mandolin, banjo and voice. I have worked with students of all ages ages 4-early 60’s and I just genuinely enjoy sharing the gift of music with any and everyone! I believe that we are all students in life and even though I have been playing professionally for half of my life I still see myself as a student and love learning from my students as well. I began my musical journey at the age of 7 taking private piano lessons. In my early teens I was introduced to the guitar where my love for music and music education came full circle. In high school I took AP music theory and was the first chair guitarist in my high school jazz band. Though I was accepted to Berklee College of Music and Belmont university I ended up attending VCU. While at VCU I took private jazz guitar lessons under Mike Ess. During my college years I formed two successful bands Bella Blue, and Steve Carter Connexion and also joined the popular hip hop group Earthtone. All of these groups were comprised of other outstanding musicians that have gone on to pursue professional careers in music as well. After graduating VCU I continued my path in music teaching private lessons, playing guitar in church, and being a member and “hired gun” for multiple funk/rock/and R&B groups in the DMV area. Currently I am the lead guitarist and a vocalist for the band Stonebrook which is signed with EastCoast Entertainment, and Dance Candy which is signed with Sam Hill Entertainment. Dance Candy has been the rhythm section for the living legend of tap dance Savion Glover since 2015. We have performed everywhere from New York City to Mexico City and countless theaters in between. In 2017 I released my debut solo album entitled “Soullow” which can be found on iTunes, Spotify, and Tidal. Getting to share the gift of music and educating youth and adults is an honor and a privilege that I’m forever grateful for.
Steven B. has over 10 years of music experience in the Chester area.

What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
My approach to teaching students how to write songs starts with getting them to be comfortable expressing themselves. From there it depends on what style/genre they are going for. Songwriting comes from the heart and is one of the most honest expressions of art and life. The theory I teach behind songwriting depends on their level of understanding concepts like melody, time/meter, phrasing, and dynamics.
What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
Students can expect fun engaging lessons that cover theory, sight-reading, scales, learning songs, technique, rhythm and overall understanding of how to use their voice as an instrument. My approach to teaching my students is based off the individual students goals and skill set.
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
