What to expect in my Record Engineer Produce

Beginner - Intermediate

A lot of our time here will be spent reviewing initially, due to the common misdirection of some folks and their current knowledge of the craft. However, this is not always the case! Basically, I will need a benchmark of where the student is at on their journey with engineering in the world of music. Once we gain some common ground, we will discuss proper (but also well-known) terminology, if needed, of gear, recording/mixing/mastering principles and techniques, room treatment & sound isolation, as well as honing in on what specific genres they would like to learn about most, and much more. This topic in particular is very vast with several ways to do some of the same things, so get ready to dive deep!

What to expect in my Vocal Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

It is known that there are a lot of vocalists out there who have natural proficiency or endless potential, and sometimes they're completely unknown! This is where I like the student to be transparent about their abilities. I like to start by letting them explain what styles of music they enjoy singing most. Once we run through some warmups, I will then have them preview their talents with a favorite song of theirs. This can give me an idea of how to approach their intended vocal style and endeavors with future lessons.

What to expect in my Bass Guitar Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

I will first start by saying that I am not a bass player by heart, but the instrument can be very exciting to play and is crucial to have an understanding of. After all this is what grounds the song! During my bass lessons, I put forth this latter information in order to gain reputation with students for being honest. I then ask them what they are looking to learn with the bass, or if they would like to further their knowledge in some areas. I then tailor lessons around their needs and strive to meet them whole-heartedly.

What to expect in my Guitar Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced

On the initial meeting, I like to approach the situation with a good conversation about where the student sits currently with their abilities as a guitarist. This includes strengths/weaknesses, likes/dislikes, short-to-long term goals; anything of that nature. From that point on, you can expect us to run through some warmups if need be, then I will ask about what they would like to learn if no specific lessons are planned. I like to keep things as open-ended as possible to avoid blandness and loss of attention.

Formal Education:

I have been an avid musician for 11+ years as of now, and have a Bachelor's Degree in Recording Arts from Full Sail University, alongside 6-7 years of formal teachings with guitar, vocals, and other instruments.

Performing Experience:

I have played in bands for years within the rock and metal genres, but also have extensive knowledge of blues, jazz, funk, and other musical styles. I took on the role of guitarist Some of the talent that I have gotten opportunities to share the stage with include The Contortionist, Monuments, Polyphia, Anup Sastry, Wilhelm, Improvidence, Delusions of Grandeur, Save Us From The Archon, etc.

Experience Teaching:

Throughout the years, I have been reached out to by friends and family for the means of teaching them guitar specifically; I've gotten very true, but positive feedback regarding my teaching abilities as a whole. As far as what I offer, instrument lessons involve mainly 6, 7, and 8 string guitar including some introduction to other stringed instruments such as bass guitar and acoustic guitar styles. I also carry knowledge of clean/unclean vocal styles and production, along with technical expertise of engineering and producing in a variety of digital audio workstations. I can assist with songwriting and arrangement of various styles of music with both vintage and modern tones. This goes in tandem with dissecting pre-existing song material to teach to my students.
