Hi, my name is Caleb and I am a trombonist from Arlington, Texas. I have been a student of music for 10 years. My musical influences primarily include jazz, and I also enjoy symphonic music. My teaching style can best be described as relaxed and tailored to a specific student's strengths and interests. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I work with a student to make sure they are enjoying their journey with the trombone. In my lessons, you can expect to learn how to develop fundamentals such as tone quality, slide technique, and articulation, advanced techniques such as jazz improvisation, how to read music, and how to play in different styles such as jazz, pop, and orchestral. I like to tell my students to have fun with their instrument and explore what interests them. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing students enjoy themselves and playing music. My favorite performance was the OU Jazz Band concert in Edmond in 2018. My students love that I am flexible with my teachings. I primarily teach band, orchestral, and classical studies, but I can also teach jazz and pop. My approach as a teacher is to remember that the student is here to enjoy their instrument.
