Hi, my name is Michael and I am a music education major from Carthage College. I have been a student of music for 15 years. My musical influences include Beethoven and Rachmaninov and I also enjoy a bit of jazz. My teaching style can best be described as fun and methodical. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I believe that learning music is like stacking bricks.
In my lessons, you can expect to discover different techniques of playing through different pieces of music and also the be challenged while we play pieces just beyond your current ability. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing the students face when they finally understand a new topic and see a whole new way to play and express themselves. My favorite performance was last October when I playing piano for the Beethoven Ghost Trio. I primarily teach piano, but I can also teach low brass.
