Jacob B.

Hi, my name is Jacob and I am from Wisconsin! I have been teaching music for the last 8 years in both piano and percussion and have been a student of music my whole life. My musical influences began with jazz and rock and roll but I also enjoy classical music and music from many other cultures such as samba and Afro-Cuban music. I've been lucky enough to play with some amazing musicians within the U.S. but also across Europe, Asia, Australia and Latin America.

My teaching style is incredibly individual and creative. I love working with students of all ages to figure out the way they learn best and what keeps them engaged. In my lessons, the love for music ranks above all else. I stress the building blocks of technique and musicality but the love of music is what keeps people invested. A positive comment I get from many students is that I taught them how to teach themselves-a lesson much more useful later in life.

I teach piano extensively but have a degree in percussion performance and I’m comfortable teaching anything from school/orchestral percussion to drum set to marimba and timpani to hand percussion from different cultures. I also play guitar, ukulele and bass guitar and would be comfortable helping students with basics on these instruments as well. The student always comes first.
