Hi, my name is Julian and I am a drummer/audio technician from Upper Marlboro, MD! I have been a student of music as long as I can remember. I enjoy all genres from pop to gospel/ Christian music, to even Country and classical music. My teaching style can best be described as laid back, yet intentional.

My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I want every student of mine to learn at his or her own pace. Every student learns differently and we must embrace everyone’s musical learning abilities. In my lessons, you can expect to learn sheet music reading, for all percussion instruments and drum set as well. I also can teach improvisational drum set techniques too. I like to tell my students that music is art, and all art is subjective. You do not have to be like everyone else.

My favorite thing about teaching is seeing my students improve throughout each lesson. My favorite performance was when I was on tour with my school’s traveling band, playing at different events and churches. My students love that I am easy going. I primarily teach snare drum sheet music, and drum set sheet music/improv techniques, but I can also teach Bells/piano. My approach as a teacher is to help the student gain knowledge and experience in whatever he or she is trying to learn.
