Tyler F.

Tyler, a BHS alumnus hailing from Blacksburg, VA, is a second-year Doctor of Musical Arts student and fourth-year Saxophone Teaching Assistant at Arizona State University under the direction of Dr. Christopher Creviston, where he also completed his Master’s Degree in Music Performance. Previously, Mr. received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from the University of South Carolina under the direction of Dr. Clifford Leaman. Mr. has held 1st Place honors in the Young Artist Soloist Division of the Arizona Music Teachers National Association MTNA Competition for the last 3 consecutive seasons between 2014 and 2016. Additionally Mr. was awarded 1st Prize in the 2015 ASU Concerto Competition, 2nd Prize in The 2016 Arapahoe Philharmonic Concerto Competition, and 2nd Prize Overall as a founding member of the Mosaic Quartet in the National MTNA Chamber Music Competition held in Las Vegas, NV in 2016. Between 2013 and present day, Mr. has commissioned and premiered over 12 brand-new works for the saxophone that have been presented at numerous conferences throughout the Southwest Region. In addition to his active contribution as a soloist and chamber musician at ASU and within the surrounding Arizonan communities, Mr. has been teaching saxophone privately in the Phoenix Metropolitan area since 2013.
