Brian began playing pots and pans with his mother's wooden spoons at the age of four. In fourth grade he began formal lessons from the school's instructor, learning the basics of rudiments, classical grip and stick control. Over the years, he developed his skills further by learning other grip techniques to include match grip and French grip styles using a metronome to develop meter and timing. Then, expanding his practice pad and single snare drum rudiments by utilizing a complete kit of drums. This involved developing hand and feet independence, coordination, and learning various rhythm styles. He gained performance experience by playing in marching band and orchestra while in Junior High and High School traveling to various locations around the mid west. After graduating, he joined his first group consisting of three other young lads still seniors in high school, learning a wide variety of cover tunes to include such groups as Led Zepplin, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Allman Brothers, Spirit, John Mayall, and many others. From 1970 to the mid 80's he was the drummer of choice for a plethora of bands in the area doing all kinds of genres to include R&B, Blues, Funk, Country and Western, Folk Rock, Big Band Swing, and Metal. playing in venues around the tri-state area and opening up for famous bands of the day such as The Association and Marshal Tucker. In 1985 he went on the road with Citizen, a top 40 variety dance band trio that played all over the mid-west and as far north as Indiana and south to Arkansas. At the end of touring the states, Citizen was then hired on the Norwegian Cruise Line NCL MS Sunward II, for a three month gig in the Bahamas. After all the touring, he moved to Florida where he once again played in bands on the "A" circuit while working at Thorobred Music store in Tampa as a drum salesman where he was chosen to be drum tech for the day for Alan White of Yes, and AJ Pero of Twisted Sister for their drum clinic held at the store. After moving to Syracuse New York, he again was fortunate to play in several top name bands of the area. The highlight of that time was performing with several of the best blues bands of the time. Playing with one of the most highly acclaimed guitarists of the day, Rich Walekis in the band Out Of Bounds which was voted best blues band in 1994 by the local Blues Society for the CD "So Many Women". From New York he moved to Tennessee where, once again he had the opportunity to play with some of the best musicians of the area, while recording singer songwriters and whole bands, as well as his own compositions in his home studio. During that time, he performed at many high profile venues to crowds of over 2,000. One southern rock band, Broken Toy, featuring ex Molly Hatchett lead guitarist Rik Blanz, was fortunate to play one of the area's top venues called Rivers and Spires, where their performance was live streamed to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. After moving to his present home in Texas, he started going to open mics all around Dallas and had the pleasure of playing with ex-Asleep At The Wheel keyboardist Tim Alexander. Then, once again, began playing in a number of bands doing everything from top 40 to Blues. Relocating for a short four years to the Houston area, he was fortunate to play in one of the most highly recognized blues bands in the Houston Blues Society competition. All this time teaching students at his home based rehearsal space, where he also ran a business.
