8 Years
"Music is a beautiful language that can be learned by anyone, at any time in their life." With 20 years of music performance experience from early childhood, weekly drumming performances from the age of 10 onwards with local bands and churches, through college choral societies and performing groups, as well as experience teaching from high-school onwards, Matthew has cultivated and refined a raw passion for musical language into a desire to enrich and inspire the hearts and minds of his students. Matthew achieved his BA in Musical Arts '18 at Johnson University Florida under the instruction of Ruth Reyes, and continues his education with interests in educational psychology, advanced applied music theory, and music philosophy. "Music is a language of finite rules that have infinite combinations, of beautiful creation housed in fundamental principles. Through this creation we find joy, and share that joy with others."
Matthew H. has over 8 years of music experience in the St. Cloud area.
Matthew H. is proficient in and teaches Drum Lessons, Keyboard and Piano Lessons, Vocal Lessons, Song Writing Lessons .Degree and Field of Study:
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Students should expect courses tailored to their specific needs. Beginners should expect a thorough and fun-loving experience learning about the basics of performance and music theory as far as it applies to their situation (Chord anatomy, simple scales, reading basic theory). For example, a student interested in performing classical and jazz would require more of a focus in theory than a student interested in rock or pop. Intermediate students should expect a deeper dive into the same musical concepts as beginners, as well as challenges in composition and synthesis of their learning. As with the last tier, concepts learned would be tailored to the needs of the students. Advanced students should expect a passionate conversation and thorough examination of their ability to synthesize their musical talents. Concepts taught here would be extensive, ranging from performance practices, advanced music theory, set-up tear down practices in professional situations, music philosophy, and composition techniques.
