About Me

Sarah is an experienced teacher and performer of violin/fiddle and viola. She has taught all ages and many styles, including classical, Celtic fiddle, pop/rock, and folk music. Performing professionally since 2014, Sarah has played in many classical ensembles for weddings and events, as well as in Celtic music groups and in an electric rock string ensemble called Electria. Sarah is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Performance. She is an Orchestra Merit Award recipient and held the principal violist position in the EKU Symphony Orchestra. Sarah was elected president of the EKU American String Teachers' Association chapter in 2, and traveled to Italy to study music in the summer of 2015. She was also honored to play in many faculty string ensembles while a student at EKU. Sarah has studied Irish fiddle music under notable Irish fiddlers such as Tommy Peoples and Kevin McKee. From a young age, she attended classes at many Irish music festivals in the U.S., and traveled to Ireland for four weeks to learn more. Her experience with pop/rock styles began in college when she created her own string arrangements out of popular songs on the radio. She then took this love for playing popular music when she began performing with Electria. After completing her music degree, Sarah found a love for teaching when she began her own lesson studio of private violin and viola students in 2015. Sarah also started a violin ensemble class and co-founded a community strings program called String Sounds. Students studying with Sarah have been featured soloists in their school orchestras, and have achieved Honors Orchestra and All-State orchestra positions. Sarah really enjoys the opportunity to share her joy in making music with students. Being able to play an instrument opens up an opportunity for expression and creativity, and connecting with others through social playing. Seeing her students progress and reach their goals is so exciting. Sarah is very skilled at teaching strong foundational techniques, and then building on these with more advanced techniques to allow for progression in musicality and maturity. With her background in Classical, Irish fiddle, and pop/rock music, Sarah provides instruction for a variety of musical interests.

Sarah P.

Sarah has done a fantastic job of getting my boys to really enjoy playing violin! With her instruction and support, my oldest joined the local youth orchestra where he has flourished. I can’t recommend her enough! Sarah P. wrote on Mon, 30 Nov -0001

Sarah taught both my kids violin and both kids really enjoyed their lessons with her. My daughter was 5 when she started with Sarah and she did such a wonderful job with her she's doing really great now. My son had lessons with her and she kept him challenged and he improved so much within a year of taking lessons with her. I would highly recommend Sarah for violin lessons! My daughter has been taken Suzuki viola lessons with Ms. Sarah in Lexington, KY, for four years starting in sixth grade. Ms. Sarah was always encouraging and found the right level of playing difficulty for my daughter to keep it fun but also challenging her. Ms. Sarah was always able to fit an extra hour into her busy schedule when needed, especially to prepare for auditions. I give Ms. Sarah credit for my daughter to move up to the Symphonic Orchestra of her High School. I can only highly recommend Ms. Sarah! Sarah Aldiab wrote on Tue, 19 May 2020

Sarah is a beautiful person, both inside and out. She taught my daughter for 3 years in KY. She started out with the viola, and when my daughter added the violin Sarah didn't blink an eye but calmly encouraged her. My daughter learned so much from Sarah but most notable was her confidence In Her playing. Because of Sarah's encouragement, Emily did not hesitate to try something new, including playing with a different orchestra. Sarah is a very patient and kind instructor and we miss her greatly. Sarah is an amazingly patient, kind, creative, and fun teacher. She taught my son for 3 years in Kentucky, from first through third grades. He improved rapidly and looked forward to every lesson. Of note, my son has anxiety, but Sarah was so calm and positive that he never once worried about his violin lessons. In short, I am very impressed with Sarah's skill and passion for music education, and I would recommend her to anyone. She is one in a million. Sarah Aldiab wrote on Tue, 19 May 2020

Sarah is an amazingly patient and forgiving instructor. She always has a way to put a positive energy on any practice session. Her gift for Irish and bluegrass style fiddle is a rare talent. I particularly loved learning these tunes by ear from her-it was so much fun! I never knew I would love Irish fiddle so much. I was able to learn from her for about 1.5 years before she had to move away. Any student, any age would be lucky to learn with her! Sarah Aldiab wrote on Tue, 19 May 2020
