I have always loved music from an early age. I began playing guitar and drums at the age of 11 and continued my education by self teaching and classes. My musical influences include pop, alternative, and rock music. My favorite thing about music is improvisation and my favorite thing about teaching music is seeing students make connections. One of my favorite teaching experiences was showing my younger brother how to play guitar and helping him create a life long hobby. Beginner - Intermediate
Students will learn the fundamentals of the instrument like how to tune, picking and strumming, chords, and basic techniques. Whether music theory is involved is up to the student. Many find it easier to get familiar and comfortable with the instrument before learning theory. Students will be encouraged to purse their interests and build on them. Having a life long hobby like playing guitar is priceless.
What to expect in my Drum Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
Students will learn simple drum beats, to keep time, to learn grip, and to get familiar with the kit. I will teach fundamental rudiment exercises and, depending on skill level, challenge students with a diverse range of exercises, beats, and styles to strengthen their coordination, sticking, and independence. Students are encouraged to pursue any genre, style, or technique they find interesting. I am more than happy to pursue their interests and to make lessons a fun and challenging learning environment. Drumming is my passion, and I hope to share it.
