Richard C.

Richard began playing drums at the age of 7. He played actively in all the school bands through high school. Richard studied drum and percussion technique with several local professionals. Richard played local shows with a variety of artists, honing his skills playing many different styles utilizing an array of percussion instruments. Having performed in hundreds of shows throughout the years, Richard spent time teaching from 2008 to 2015 for the Young Artist’s Conservatory of Music. He was the lead drum/percussion instructor, but also taught in the Music Matters program. This valuable program brought music back to schools where state funding had cut it from the budget. Richard taught concert percussion classes as well as beginning guitar, ukulele and an Intro to Music class for kindergarten students. During his time, Richard and his drum students performed many shows, working with a variety of children performers and local professionals. His own band Rubicon performed hundreds of shows in the SF Bay Area of California for several years before moving to Colorado in 2016. Richard continues to study music to continue to grow and learn. He believes it’s a lifetime journey to be not just a teacher but forever a student too.
