About Me

Music is life! I have learned from some brilliant musicians and I am always excited to share. Growing up I was always curious about music and the different instruments. The groups I teach are woodwinds(my favorites), brass, percussion, and piano. To my string players, all I can offer is the theory! We will be learning together, I promise you!

What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced

Music theory is key with me! Students will: Learn how to read music. Learn the basics of the piano. Practice rhythm and dictation (intervals!). Learn all major/minor scales. Then it's all about being a guide for practice! Students will: Establish proper instrument technique (fingerings and embouchure). Practice articulation and intonation. Learn song structures. Practice sight reading new songs. Then we get down with it! Students will: Learn the 7 modes of music and how to apply them. Practice chord structure and different types of scales. Practice improvisation (jam sessions!) Learn how to transpose and transcribe.

Performing Experience:

5 years of marching during high school with the Mcdonogh 35 Roneagles. From Mardi Gras parades, to Football and Basketball games. Weekly preforming concerts at a conservatory in New Orleans (3 years) Brass Band: Playing at various events or locations at a cost. Summer jazz camp "Big Band" style performances.

Experience Teaching:

During my 9th grade year in high school, I began to teach beginners music theory and the basics of their instrument. By the end of my 10th grade year, I learned enough through teaching to be able to play just about any instrument in our band. Since then, I've been doing private lessons when I have free time from school and work.
