Hi there! You can call me Joe. I've been a musician since the age of 7, and I've loved it ever since. I began my music career through learning piano. I then picked up a guitar and, quickly thereafter, began playing percussion. My favorite genre is Rock, but I thoroughly enjoy Funk, Punk, Jazz, and various forms of Pop. I began teaching the drum set during college, more than 6 years ago! Soon, I started teaching guitar and piano to many more students on my days off. My favorite aspect of teaching music has to be the growth I see in my students. Many eventually become inspired to write their own music! It is great to remember where my students started, and how many of them developed into very polished musicians. I hope to inspire many more people to become the very best musicians they can be.
Joseph H. has over 3 years of music experience in the Glenview area.
Joseph H. is proficient in and teaches Guitar Lessons, Bass Guitar Lessons, Drum Lessons, Keyboard and Piano Lessons .Degree and Field of Study:
What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
The guitar is a wonderful instrument to choose! I want you to feel comfortable with it as soon as possible. Many parts of learning guitar can be tricky, but I will do my very best to make learning guitar a fun and enriching experience. I will teach you from experience, as well as from what I know helps other guitarists in their development. My goal as your guitar instructor will be to teach you how to teach yourself. I want you to know how to correct yourself, and make you sound the way you want to. Every guitarist is different, so finding your own voice is very important to me.
What to expect in my Bass Guitar Lessons
This instrument may look easier to play than a regular, 6-string guitar, but that is not necessarily the case. The nature of this instrument, and its purpose, are unique and powerful. A student to the bass guitar must go into it with the same level of dedication as any other instrument. My goal as your bass instructor will be to inspire you in the world of bass, and hopefully I will be able to show you what it means to be the bassist.
What to expect in my Drum Lessons
The drum set is not a force to be reckoned with! Learning the drums can and should be a very inspiring and fun experience. Becoming a very good drummer is not as easy as it looks, and it takes a lot of dedication and passion to become one of the best. I will teach you the absolute bare-bone fundamentals of drums and percussion, and take you on a journey of beat development. Everything I say will have a purpose and meaning, even if it seems unintuitive at first. I will break every drum beat and pattern down for you as necessary. My goal will be to make you into a self-reliant drummer; wherein, you'll take your skills to any setting and genre you choose, and make it sound awesome and uniquely you.
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
The piano is truly the "musicians' musical instrument." I believe every musician should have some understanding of the layout of the piano, whether they're a guitarist or vocalist or even a drummer. To understand what music is at its most fundamental level, you need to understand how notes, pitch, and intervals interrelate. My goal as your piano instructor will be to open your eyes to the world of music; whether you want to continue becoming the greatest pianist you can be, or take what you learned about music theory by learning the piano and transfer that understanding to other instruments, I want to help get you there.
