About Me

Hi I'm Nick! I began playing drums at the age of eight, bass at the age of nine, and piano at the age of 13. Over the years, I developed his skills further by learning from experts in different areas of music, such as Afro-Latin, Turkish, East Asian, and European rhythmic traditions. Having attended the New England Conservatory-the oldest music college in the country-I gained valuable educational and performance experience. In the San Diego area, I have played at such venues as The House of Blues, Dizzy's Jazz Club, Balboa Park, and the Moxie Theater, preforming with acts such as The Ambassadors of Soul, Gilberto Castellanos, Brooklyn the Musical, and Wally. Though I am capable of teach many genres of music, my musical personal favorites are Rock, Funk and Latin American music, which have had a great influence on my style of playing. I personally love music because the interconnectivity it provides between cultures, and I love teaching music because I enjoy creating connections and spreading joy. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional, I can help you expand and enhance your playing. I'm excited to meet you and learn how I can help you reach your musical goals. Performing Experience:

I have a wide variety of performing experience from Musical Theater to Jazz. At the age of 13, I was invited to preform with a large vocal acapella group for Deke Sharon's-musical director for Pitch Perfect-at Carnegie Hall. I began my professional career at 15 playing drums in a band commissioned by San Diego politicians. At 16, I began playing at Panama 66 in Balboa Park with prominent San Diego Jazz artists such as Gilbert Castellanos and Joshua White. That year I also began working as a pit musician and background vocalist for off broadway musicals, playing show such as Brooklyn the Musical and Sweet Charity at venues such as the World Beat Center, the Moxie Theater, and Spreckels Theater. At 17 I joined a local Afro-Cuban band which preformed every weekend at Havana de Cuba. At the same time, I was attending renowned Jazz competitions such as the Monterey Jazz Festival and the Reno Jazz Festival, achieving top marking at each. In college I preformed with multiple bands within the Boston area, regularly playing at venues such as Wally's and the Lilypad. I also began playing outside my comfort zone, getting involved with Middle Eastern music groups as well as Free Jazz.
