What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
We would begin our lesson with practicing posture, and hand position, and matching notes with finger positions. Depending on the age of the student, we would practice basic ear training (intervals, note recognition, identifying types of chords/sounds/instruments), work on basic theory, rhythm(counting and clapping/using percussion instruments), and practicing songs, ( which would be age appropriate), Again, each student would have an assignment to work on each week.
What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
I usually begin my vocal lessons with breathing exercises, practicing posture, and 10 minutes of vocalizes, Then, we would practice the song that they are working on (in their style, as suited to their voice) working with breathing/phrasing, expression, singing on the vowels, enunciating, and some basic music theory. We may also touch upon mic technique/performing, and some basic ear training(matching pitches, intervals, chord recognition), and basic harmonies (or “echoing”, singing in a round) as time allows. They will receive a new assignment each week, to practice at home.
