Hello! My name is Tom, but my students usually call me Mr. B. I am a Music Theory and Beginning Piano teacher at a local school district, and I'm looking to give lessons to students in the area or online. I have both Bachelors and Master’sDegrees in Music Education, with a focus in Trombone. Brass instruments are my passion, but I also have a love for piano! I am qualified and certified to teach all band/orchestral instruments as well, so I am happy to instruct you on any instruments you are interested in! I can't wait to get to know you and help you on your musical journey!

What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
In my piano lessons, students can expect a mix of Music Theory and Piano playing. It is crucial to supplement piano instruction with Music Theory as they go hand in hand. We will discuss and focus on basic theory fundamentals such as beat, rhythm, intervals, chords, etc. and then apply that information to the keyboard! I will focus repertoire on student interest and am flexible on adapting lesson focus to student needs and wants.
What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
In my instrument lessons, I like to begin each lesson with warm-ups and fundamentals that support good tone and technique. We will focus on long tones, slurs, range, etc. Students learning orchestral/band instruments should also have a variety of opportunities to play solo pieces, so this will definitely be a part of our lessons together. Lastly, if students are in ensembles, we will focus on those pieces as well, depending on student need.
