Hi, my name is Nicolas and I am a Piano Performance Major from Baylor University. I have been a student of music for over 10 years. My musical influence comes mostly from Classical music, but numerous jazz musicians have left major marks on my understanding of music. My teaching style can best be described as patient music is a slow but rewarding process, kind, and eager to build skills as well as bring out the strengths of students. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I want to make the instrument as easy and fun as possible to play. This includes how to read and understand what is on the page efficiently, but it also includes how we physically approach the instrument. I want my students to develop solid foundations in technique that will empower them to play the music that they are passionate about. In my lessons, you can expect to learn how to read, learn, and even memorize music easily as well as how to move easily around the instrument. I like to tell my students that, from my experience, a short time of thoughtful practice will take you miles further than hours of thoughtless practice. My favorite thing about teaching is choosing the right music to play for each student, because they can have such diverse interests. It is very important to me because I want your own personality and passion to show in your playing. I primarily teach classical piano, but I can also teach jazz, pop, film music, or whatever you are passionate about learning. Thanks for taking a look at my profile.
