Hi, my name is Catherine. I began playing piano when I was five years old and fell in love with music. I began teaching private lessons 11 years ago. I primarily teach piano but I have also taught voice lessons and low brass tuba, trombone, and baritone. I received my bachelors in music education from MTSU in 2017 and have taught band in middle and high schools for the past 4 years. I believe that music can have a positive impact on student’s lives. Students learn to solve problems, express themselves, communicate through music, and gives them a lifelong appreciation of the arts.
Catherine B. has over 6 years as a public schoo years of music experience in the Cave Spring area.
Catherine B. is proficient in and teaches Keyboard and Piano Lessons .Degree and Field of Study:

What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
Students should expect to learn the basics of using the voice in my classes. I will work with students to improve breath support, vowel shapes, and placement of notes. As a beginning vocalist, it is very important to learn proper technique so that you have the ability to sing without straining your voice.
What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons
I teach trombone, baritone, and tuba players. We will focus on fundamental skills, breath support, tongue placement, phrasing, and musicality. My students in the past have won auditions for All-East, Mid-State, All-State, Governor’s School for the Arts, and many college auditions.
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Students should expect my lessons to be fun and engaging, while still learning proper technique. I put a very high emphasis on learning music theory and proper hand position and technique, especially at the beginning level. These fundamental skills provide a foundation for the student to be a lifelong musician.
Formal Education:
I received my Bachelors Degree in K-12 Instrumental Music Education from MTSU.
Private Education:
I have taken private lessons myself for many years. I studied piano for 12 years, voice for 3 years, and tuba for 9 years.
Performing Experience:
I have been performing for most of my life. I have performed in countless piano recitals, voice recitals, band concerts, brass quintet concerts, and solo tuba recitals. I competed in the Midwest National Tuba Competition in 2013 and won. I have performed with Allen Vizzuti, Doc Severnson, Nigel Clark, David Maslanka, and many others.
Experience Teaching:
I have been teaching as a certified teacher for four years. I teach middle and high school band classes as well as private lessons to my low brass students. I began teaching private piano lessons in 2010 and have continued since then to teach piano, low brass, and voice.
